About

419758_10150706709596265_1328391615_nThanks for visiting my site. I am a writer and medical anthropologist. My nonfiction essays have won contests like the New Millenium Award (2018) and the Arts and Letters Prize (2015), and have appeared in the Washington Post, Health Affairs, and The Riveter. You can look for my poetry in places like DIAGRAM, Blackbird, Forklift, OHIO, and H_NGM_N.

My academic research focuses on bioethics of emerging (especially neuro-) technologies, and on cultural, social and psychological aspects of health care and treatment seeking. I hold a PhD in Medical Anthropology from the University of Connecticut, and an MFA in Nonfiction and Poetry from the University of Houston.
